Sygic is the 6th fastest growing technology rising star in Central Europe according to Deloitte

October 21, 2009

The turn-by-turn navigation application provider Sygic, based in Slovakia, was today awarded 6th place in the Rising Star category of Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Central Europe program, while taking the 1st place in its home country. The program ranks and awards the fastest growing companies from 13 countries of Central and Eastern Europe.

The Deloitte Technology Fast 50 program was started in Silicon Valley, California in 1995 and has expanded into a Technology Fast 500 in North America, Asia-Pacific and Europe. This program operates independently in 17 countries outside of the United States and in one region - Central Europe. The Central European Technology Fast 50 ranks fast-growing technology companies in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Lithuania. Besides the main category awarding top Technology Fast 50 companies, there are two subcategories to this program: 10 top Rising Stars and newly added this year, the Big 5.

Deloitte Technology Fast 50 subcategory ‚Rising stars‘ is to recognise technology companies that are quickly making a name for themselves, while being in business less than 5 years.  Such a rising star is also Sygic, having been incorporated as a company in 2004 and devoting itself to the development and global sales of navigation software for mobile devices, including mobile phones. Sygic ranked 6th among the Rising Stars from 13 countries of Central and Eastern Europe, while being the fastest growing young company in Slovakia. „Praise for this award goes to all the people working in, with and for Sygic – without their innovative ideas, courage and devotion to their work we would not be where we are now. I'd like to express sincere thanks for and appreciation of their professional approach.“ Says Michal Stencl, Sygic's CEO.

„2009 is an exciting year for Sygic, we have launched our navigation app for iPhone, started our own online store and extended the supported devices portfolio to include the fresh Android and Windows Mobile 6.5 platform-based phones. Our team keeps growing continuously. We are selling our software to users on four continents, and we have succeeded in and getting our brand among the top recognised suppliers of navigation for mobile phones in the world.“ adds Anna Hurbanic, Sygic's PR Manager. This year's results will be taken into account for nominations for the next year's Technology Fast 50 program, where Sygic will already participate in the main category, as it is reaching the fifth year of its young ‚business life‘. „We have been doing great over the recent 5 years, so we trust that next year we will rank in the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 again among the fastest growing companies, and hopefully even climb up the ladder a bit more.“ concludes Michal Stencl.
