June 22, 2010
During the first weekend of June 2010, the best entrepreneurs from over 50 countries gathered in Monte Carlo for the finals of World Entrepreneur of the Year 2010, a prestigious title awarded by Ernst & Young. One of them was Sygic's CEO Michal Stencl, Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year 2010 in Slovakia.
From June 3 - 6, 2010, the world's best entrepreneurs gathered at the Ernst & Young World Entrepreneur Of The Year (WEOY) award in Monte Carlo, Monaco. The title went to Michael Spencer, Group CEO of the UK's ICAP. Spencer was picked from among the more than 50 country finalists vying for the title, each of whom had already been named the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year in their home countries. The main areas for the panel of judges to decide for the winner in each country as well as in the world finals were entrepreneurial spirit, financial performance, strategic direction, global impact, innovation as well as personal integrity, influence and social responsibility.
Slovakia's finalist at the WEOY was Michal Stencl, CEO of Sygic. Although the winner could be only one, Michal Stencl as well as all other finalists received a personalized trophy of the event and were inducted into the World Entrepreneur of the Year Hall of Fame. "I am truly honored and happy to be here. Attending the WEOY event in Monte Carlo has been a fantastic experience which exceeded my expectations in every way. It is recognition not only of me as an entrepreneur, but also that what Sygic and we do is sufficiently well regarded for me to be able to represent Slovakia on the world stage. It is also a great opportunity to meet and speak to outstanding people from all kinds of industries and different parts of world." said Michal Stencl during the event. Being 31 years old, he was by far the youngest of the finalists. In this regard it is a pity that there is only one chance in life time to enter this contest, as Michal has still got a great deal of a road ahead in business, paved with his devotion and visions.
The Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year is a global programme which identifies, acclaims and supports entrepreneurs. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the WEOY award.
