Activation process

Sygic provides 4 types of activation process:

1) Product codes for end-users

This type of activation is useful if you do not know who will be the final customer, and what device will he use. You will provide him with unique Product Code (e.g. A123-B123-C123-D123) and the customer will be able to activate his software anytime:
a) via activate.sygic.com

b) via Sygic navigation software (when loading map: Activate -> Automatic -> Enter product code)

c) via activation system at your website (through real-time connection with our activation server)

d) via custom activation (if the customer calls your helpdesk)

e) via SMS gate, your application, or any other means (through real-time connection with our activation server)

2) Pre-activated SD cards by seller

This type of activation is useful, if you want to sell pre-activated product (no user activation neccessary).

You can place Activation Code directly to the SD card using our automated utility. The software will run on any device (Windows Mobile), but only on this SD card.

3) Custom activation

This type of activation can be used in many situations, but mostly when you are activating products for the fleet of your customer, and you know which devices will be used.

Using our extranet, you will be able to generate prepaid license. The complete process is following:

a) Prepay minimum amount of licenses

b) Login to our extranet

c) Generate the license:

1. Enter Device Code of the device where software will be running
2. Select the product to activate (map)
3. Optionally enter description (for your overview)
4. Use the Activation Code generated by our extranet

4) Trial codes

For your corporate potential customers, you can offer evaluation version, that will enable fully-featured navigation software for 7 days*.

User will get access to all the features, but he will see the message "This is trial" over the map all the time.

* 7 days period can be adjusted in some cases

Functionality of trial code

Attributes of trial codes

• Trial code is considered as ACTIVATION CODE: when user is activating a map, user has to choose Manual activation, and then enter his trial code.
  * trial code can be also written inside the license.txt file

• Independent on device (the same code runs on every device)

• Each trial code has information about the date when it expires

• When loading a map in trial mode, it checks the system date. If system date is OK (not later than 7 days after generation of trial code), the map is loaded and the whole system is functional.

• When GPS signal from satellites is obtained, software checks if satellite date is not later than 7 days after generation of trial code. If yes, then application is terminated.

Restrictions for normal user

For 'normal' users, trial period can be easily extended by changing the system date on their device. However, once they get GPS position from the satellite, software evaluates this date, and terminates application if the trial is expired.

Hackers

Trial code has no lower safety than normal activation license. The only risk is, that providing trial version to general public also brings it to hackers, and increases the probability of hacking the whole licensing system.

WARNING: Providing trial code to public is prohibited by most map data providers!
