Sygic, the Slovak company which is a localization and navigation solution leader, has announced its new CEO. Since January 2018, the company is led by Martin Strigač, who to date had managed the department for business customers - Sygic Enterprise Solutions.

Michal Štencl, Sygic’s co-founder, who was termed by as the man behind one of the most successful apps in the world, is not leaving the company but instead remains active chairman of the board of directors. After fourteen years as CEO and yearly-growth, the chairman of the board of directors is planning to focus more on strategy, addressing new trends, and relinquishing day-to-day operations.

"I am proud of the whole team, which still - like me - has the desire to change the world. We have proven that we know how to do amazing things, even from Slovakia. Sygic is growing at a very dynamic pace, which increases demands on daily operations. The market is changing very quickly - that’s why I’m looking forward to paying even more attention to new trends and company strategy, in order to continue bringing our users the most advanced features," says Michal Štencl.

The new CEO will be Martin Strigač, who to date had led the Sygic Enterprise Solutions department. Before Sygic, he held a top management position at Asseco Central Europe - the international software company. He has been involved in programming since childhood. After studying management and information technology at the University of Žilina, he progressively gained professional and managerial experience at companies in Slovakia and abroad. Moving the bar ever higher, while competing with products from the largest global companies, brings numerous daily challenges. Ever since Martin Strigač started with Sygic, we had an understanding regarding operational and strategic issues. That’s why I believe it’s the right choice, and Martin is the guy in the right place. Dealing with daily operational tasks as CEO for 14 years I had been considering my successor, and I'm sure in Martin we’ve found him. I can fully focus my attention on strategy and new trends," adds Michal Štencl.

"Sygic is internationally successful products as well as a great team of innovative people, so while being CEO is definitely a big challenge it’s also great satisfaction. We also grow a community of programming teams and companies around the world every year, using our technology in our products. I am confident that in the future we will expand our user base even faster. After all, we are gradually establishing ourselves in the automotive industry. I don’t wish to reveal too much, but for coming years we have some interesting news prepared," concludes Sygic CEO Martin Strigač.
